Build It

From the digital model to a real object

The 3D model on this site is kinematic; the printable version is in development. Here is the plan and what already exists.

In development. The starting data exist; the print files are in preparation, as described below.

What already exists

What is missing to print it

  1. A single module. The ancient teeth are triangular and not uniform; a working print needs redrawn profiles with a standard module while keeping the counts. in development
  2. Tolerances and clearances for FDM/resin printing and for laser-cut sheet metal or acrylic.
  3. Arbors, bushings, plates with real dimensions (the plates at 0, +7.5 and −16 mm are already in the model).
  4. The pin-and-slot group (k1/k2, 1.3 mm eccentricity) and the e3/e4 epicyclic platform: the most delicate part.
  5. Printable dials and scales: zodiac, Egyptian calendar, Metonic and Saros spirals.
